February In A Nutshell

Lots going on as usual this month... Valentine's Day, President's Day, Grandma's 90th birthday, Todd turns 5, Tate turns 2, Julia and Heather also celebrate their birthdays this month with grandma.

Kaylee loves her little rocking chair that is just her size. Grandma let's her play with the measuring spoons and mixing bowls too.

A new project... rubber band loom to make bracelets. McKay and Bryson are really into it.

We had a little renovation done on our fireplace mantle.

We got rid of the bull-nose plaster

and replaced it with molding to match the crown molding in the rest of the house.

It looks better to us. Now Marlene needs to work her decorating magic on it.

we also replaced the failed windows in the living room with some high efficiency glass that will cut the UV damage to the furniture and keep us warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.

The upstairs was under construction so we took the kids downstairs to play.

 Our pretty little Pink Princess

Kaylee loves standing on the booster chair and then...

...Laughs as she takes the leap of faith.

We celebrated Valentine's Day with Grandma at the Garden Restaurant for lunch.

We walked through Temple Square and across the street to tour the Church History Museum. We saw the Boy Scout 75th Anniversary display and pioneer displays. The museum will be closed for a year while they redo the first floor to depict the life of Joseph Smith.

We walked back to the car and passed the temple where Grandma and Grandpa were married on Halloween evening, as well as where mom and I were married on a brrrrright sunshiny morning, after I dashed back to the house to get the marriage license that I forgot. It was a great Valentine's Day!

These are our fellow missionaries from the Middle East. They served in Jordan while we were in Egypt. We gave a presentation to their returned missionary group about the great humanitarian work the Church does around the world.

We gathered for a birthday luncheon with Grandma to celebrate her 90th birthday.

Lots of smiles and lots of fond memories shared, and a enough funny stories to make our sides hurt. Julia will be back from her cruise tomorrow.

Here we are at the Pinewood Derby with McKay and Bryson. They're ready to race!

Their cars are painted, primed and ready for their first run down the track. Can you sense the excitement in their eyes?

Pretty exciting!

Cars all set, now we wait at the finish line and share the excitement with the guys.

Jana is a den leader and tonight she is an official starter.

McKay can you explain how your car goes so fast?

Thanks for the explanation. Good luck on the next run.

Grandma is happy to help comfort Kaylee in the midst of all this boy stuff.

 Awards for Bryson.

Bryson enjoys the real reward... cookies! Thanks for a fun night with the family guys.
