Petersens in Omaha

We stopped to overnight with Gary and Kathy Petersen on the way to MN and spent an extra day with them on the way back. I should have taken pictures of their beautiful yard, but take it from me it was a work of art. Gary put in a sand box and swing area, a waterfall with fish pond, and lots of great trees and shrubs. He has been busy inside too, with remodeling of kitchen, bathrooms, and more planned. They taught us some new games and showed us the city of Omaha, including a tour of the Church Winter Quarters Visitor Center and temple. On the way home the blue skies turned black and there was a big thunderstorm with baseball-size hail. We were home and inside so it was a fun adventure.

Mormon Trail, Winter Quarters Visitors Center, across the street from the temple.

That's us, the ones with big smiles and no handcart.

Pa and Ma Lindsay from the last handcart company that just rolled in.

Old Town Omaha

We walked the streets of Old Town and found a great Mexican restaurant, Trini's.

On the River Walk downtown Omaha with the Union Pacific building dominating the skyline.

A beauty shot of Mom

Another Visitor Center
Touring another visitor center in Council Bluffs, where Brigham Young was sustained as the president of the Church.

An unusual sign. They must have a problem.

We could see an ominous wall cloud form. We later heard that it dropped baseball-sized hail, heavy rain and had high winds, maybe two tornadoes.

We were headed to the clearing cloud area, in the opposite direction of the severe weather.
