Rhine River Cruise

We had a busy week of training, meeting new people, and adjusting to our new assignment. We joined Elder and Sister Healy and relaxed on a Rhine River cruise from Rudesheim to St. Goar. It was a cloudy, foggy and cold morning, but we were ready for the adventure of a river cruise and seeing castles along the way. We drove to Rudesheim to board the tour there and travel down river to St. Goar where we would get off the boat and see the castle there.

A look at Rudesheim from the tour boat.

Before we board the boat we stopped at a backeri to get something to eat for breakfast.

There were lots of good things to choose from.

We moved to the top deck where we could see everything. The sun started to burn through the fog, but the breeze was still cool. We enjoyed our treats along the way.

Hey, there's no chocolate in this fruit pastry!

We left the dock, moved to the center of the river and made a U-turn with the current to head down river.

Breezy and cool, but lots of new sites to see.

There is a lot of commercial barge traffic on the river.

Our first castle was only a few minutes from departure, the Burg Ehrenfels Castle

We passed the building in the middle of the river. It was a toll station that was operated a few centuries ago.
