Yesterday the snow came down the side of the mountain, but not into the valley. The next night we went to sleep to the sounds of a spring rain...
...and awoke to a quiet SNOW! We thought how could this happen after mom just planted her annuals... its well after the May 10th frost free date. But Mother Nature had a surprise for us. This picture was taken about an hour after it started and it snowed a wet slushy snow for another three hours.
The cherry trees in the park strip were nearly touching the sidewalk when I knocked some of the snow off of them.
Mom's new tree roses got plastered with snow.
The petunias looked chilled to the bone.
The Japanese Maple was weighed down and rested on the bushes below.
The Crab Apple trees were coated with snow and ice.
It was painful to watch the snow keep coming and threaten the survival of the flowers, but I think most of the flowers will survive. Today is a beautiful day with no sign of valley snow. I wish life's storms could pass so quickly and be so beautiful when they are over.
