Our Holiday Memory House

Merry Christmas!

We got home from our visit with Ellen and the boys and the next day Mom climbed up in the garage and got the Christmas boxes down off the shelves. She started the traditional Christmas decorating and in just a day or two transformed the house into our holiday memory house. It is amazing how each of the traditional decorations bring back Christmas memories of years past. We were set to get a new pre-lit tree this year, but we delayed and the tree that we wanted was sold out. So back to the traditional tree that we have this love/hate relationship with.

Mom setup the tree, strung the lights and decorated most of it. Brady was here yesterday and placed ornaments on the lower branches of the tree. Thanks Brady!

Searching for the right decorations... the ones that hold special memories.

The next morning we had a fully decorated and lit Christmas tree, gifts and a train tooting and chugging around its' base.

The rest of the house was transformed for the holidays too.

We set up our new manger scene from the Philippines in the entry.

The dining room chandalier was strung with ribbons holding our special ornaments.

Our traditional manger scene was set in its traditional place in the entry.

The living room table is decked with pine boughs and ornaments. Christmas books for the kids are place with care there too.

The camel bone manger scene is on the hutch in the living room.

Another manger scene in the living room.

It's been a busy few days, and all the traditional decorations are in place and most importantly all of the memories of past Christmas celebrations are bright in our hearts. It's good to be home for Christmas! We know we will have to change most of the lower decor to accommodate our young grandchildren, but we will make those changes when they arrive.

We remember the light of the world and the star that led the wise men to the Christ Child as we fill our home with mangers and lights inside and out.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL,
AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT!
