Elder and Sister Summers Sharing Mission Experiences

We joined BJ and Marty at her parents home in Woodland Hills for a little gathering of family and friends to share a few of their mission experiences.

I like this... we started the evening with a hot fudge sundae!

Grandma Wanlass really knows how to make people comfortable with her warm greetings and ice cream.

We met in the basement in the "Amphitheater".

They told stories and showed slides of their chicken coop project that brought the branch members together socially and provided a great source of continuing income. They told of the sewing project that provided sewing machines, material and instruction for about 50 sisters. The instruction included making a skirt and top for themselves. They were prompted to speak to a woman they passed by on their morning walk and discovered that she was a homemaking instructor for the government. They asked her if she would teach 20 women how to sew in their LDS training program and she was excited and well prepared. It was a successful program too. they talked of the challenges, but mostly expressed their deep love for those that they have so closely served for the last 18 months. We sat there and listened with personal understanding of what they were feeling... the deep love for those dear people and now a separation from them but a reuniting with family. So many bitter-sweet feelings.
