Zion National Park

Mom and I went to Zion National Park today (Friday) on the way home from St. George. We had a great week away from home seeing new sites and having new experiences. Here in Zion we entered the park on Hwy 9 through Springdale. I don't know the names of the mountains in the pictures yet, but they were beautiful and it was a thrill to be in them and experience their beauty.

 The Great Arch.

We went through the Mt. Carmel tunnel (1.1 miles long) before we came to two small tunnels on the way to the top of the mountain.

At the top we lost the view of the mountains, but saw the very different, layered, and mostly barren landscape of the tops of Mt. Carmel.

A closer look at the side of a hill. That is rock... no dirt. The trees and bushes sink their roots into cracks in the rocks and manage to survive.
