COLORS ON THE ALPINE LOOP, FALL 2010

We drove up the American Fork canyon last Thursday and took in the fall colors. We went up in the late afternoon and the angle of the sun was not ideal for photography, but it was still refreshing to get out of the city and into the mountains.

The colors are starting to change in the canyon. The reds are dull and fading fast. Some yellows are bright and others are still a little green. I think the extra hot fall for the past few weeks has dried out the leaves and made for less than spectacular fall colors.

There are still some wildflowers out.

These aspen trees are still a little green, so I'll return next week to see if they have "ripened up" and turned yellow.

These yellow leaves were as bright as we saw any, but not as bright as some years.
